Design guidelines and standards
The items listed below are integrated into the architecture of the space. This information complements additional details listed on both the Workplace technology and Furniture and fixtures tabs.

Mechanical, electrical and plumbing
NOTE: These requirements apply to Smart Lockers only.
For every continuous bank of lockers

Branding and signage
- Visibly number the exterior of lockers. Use cut vinyl or other applications depending on locker materiality. Refer to the Red Hat Global Signage Guidelines.
Workplace technology
Overview
These lockers are designed to be available to any associate and come in a variety of shapes and sizes to accommodate Red Hat offices globally.
Connectivity
For every continuous bank of lockers:
1 control panel terminal (will take up one locker space)
Maximum of 250 lockers per hub
3 UTP CAT6 data drops back to switch in data closet (Daisy Chain configuration, not Star)
Total length of entire network cabling for a bank of lockers has to be less than 500 meters (1,640 feet) between Smart Locker Terminal to server room to every Smart Locker Hub/s.

Minimum 2 electrical outlets provided by GWS
Placement
For each Smart Locker project, the GWS Project Manager, Workplace Technology Project Manager, Workplace Technology Engineer and local architect will all have to work with the furniture vendor to determine proper data port placement due to the options, sizes and configurations of data and power faceplates globally, in conjunction with varying locker sizes, quantities and placements possible.
Considerations
- Maximum distance from Terminal to furthest managed locker should be no more than 50ft (15m)
- Terminal should only manage lockers that are within the line of sight (i.e. not around corners)
- A recessed floor core is necessary for data and power located in the floor (ex. free standing locker placements)
- For each terminal there is a maximum of three hubs/two daisy chains for a total of 3 locker banks
“Daisy chained Hubs” must still be run to and from data closet
Installation process
- PM, architect and furniture provider coordinate data, power and locker locations
- Vecos provides MAC addresses to PM/WTE
- PM provides CAFMs to WTE
- WTE assigns MAC addresses to CAFMs
- WTE creates Host DNS entries with assigned MAC addresses / CAFMs
- WTE provides MAC addresses / CAFM assignments to Vecos
- GWS manages power installation
- PM manages data installation
- Furniture provider manages locker installation
